Heavenly Acres is a small family owned equine facility that was birthed out of the lifelong love for horses of a little girl. Nancy grew up in Northern Québec where she was blessed with the chance to be around horses since she was 9 years old. She and Fernand, her father figure, spent years training horses and competing in speed events in Abitibi.
Her life journey eventually led her to move to Ontario, and in 1999, she was introduced to Natural Horsemanship by John Lyons. She then knew that she had found the answers to many of her questions about training and building a relationship with horses.
In 2003, Nancy purchased her first horse farm near Perth, Ontario. Eugene, who was then her fiance, suggested the name Heavenly Acres, and they knew instantly that it was the right one!
In 2012, Ross McInnes, head of Equine Assisted Learning Canada and owner of Higher Trails Ranch in Alberta, encouraged Nancy to become certified in Equine Assisted Learning and Facilitating.
Over the years, Heavenly Acres has hosted activities such as boarding, riding lessons, natural horsemanship training and teaching, western dressage, clinics, equine first aid courses, and instructor training. EAL programs were included in a high school credited course developed by Nancy, and in some programming for students with special needs.
Heavenly Acres now offers a wide range of services such as boarding, horse leasing, horseback riding lessons, EAL sessions as well as faith based equine workshops and retreats.
